Captains Log: Trip Day 13. I did not drive a single mile. Yeah! Saving up for the next few days. Today was spent boogie boarding, shell collecting, beach walking, stair climbing, napping etc. General beach bumming. Not a bad last day on the beach.

It is always interesting to meet people along the way. It seems I keep running into engineers. We met a couple at the pool here in the housing division our beach house is located in. A chemical engineer originally from the Pittsburgh area. Heather and I both had some neat conversations with the couple. They were keeping their great granddaughter for the week. He made the decision to come to California to work for Memorex many decades ago.

I also met a mechanical engineer at the Grand Canyon that worked with GE aviation. We knew some of the same people. The conversation started by discussing the inefficiency of the bicycle rental return procedure. (The inefficiency allowed for the conversation though). He now lives in Houston working for a different division of GE.

It is amazing to talk to people and discover how they ended up where they are. There are many forks in the road. The possibilities are infinite. May God always direct our path.

It's a dangerous business, Frodo, going out of your door. You step into the Road, and if you don't keep your feet, there is no knowing where you might be swept off to.
